Chocolate Cake

Rich, moist chocolate cake with deep cocoa flavour and a soft, tender crumb.

Ingredients:

Wet Ingredients - Beat Together
1¾ cups sugar
1 cup black coffee
1 tsp vanilla essence
1 cup milk
½ cup oil
2 eggs

Dry Ingredients - Sift Together
2 cups flour
1½ tsp baking powder
2 tsp baking soda
½ cup cocoa
1 tsp salt

Directions:

  1. Preheat the oven to 180°C.
  2. Add wet ingredients to dry ingredients. Beat well.
  3. Pour into prepared tin. Bake at 180°C. Test after 50 minutes. Cool in tin.

Buttercream Icing

50g butter (softened)
3 heaped tablespoons icing sugar
1 heaped teaspoon cocoa
A little water – make a runny paste

Mix all the icing ingredients together until smooth. Spread over the cake once it has completely cooled.
